When Roxanne Roberts is on WWDTM, do the other panelists immediately realize they are going to lose that week. OR if you beat Roxanne do you get an extra special prize?
I came across this article via a share on Bluesky. The moment I arrived at "...but I watched four out of the five World Series games just to root for the Yankees to lose" I knew I was hitting that subscribe button. The subsequent shredding of Alex Jones sealed the deal. Red Sox Nation 4-ever.
Haven't followed baseball after the Red Sox disaster of 1986. This was the time Bill Buckner at first base let a slow ground ball go through his legs and cost the series. I was watching the game with my girlfriend at her friend's place. He happened to be blind. After the event, when all the shouting and wailing ceased, he calmly said, "Even I could have caught that."
Your pep talk this week sounds so reassuring and visually poetic. Specifically the “ But all oceans have shores and all buildings have doors and even every corn maze has a…corn path(???) out into the…broader…corn field(?). “ I love idioms that rhyme. This made me laugh too.
I look forward to these every week or two. Thank you.
Gosh I haven’t listened to the Bugle in years!!! It was one of the first podcasts I ever got hooked on (RIP Bodega Boys)! I’m going to re subscribe this minute!!
LOVE this today!!! There's a lot of shitty stuff happening right now, but the Yankees losing ain't one of 'em! Does my feeling gleeful about this mean I maybe should also be in therapy?
And--your pep talk for Alex Jones is sheer poetry (and also made me almost pee my pants laughing!)!!! SO perfect, just as the event that inspired it. Thank you, truly, from my heart.
