If you want to do the thing, do the thing!
re: ethically dubious documentaries, Exit Through The Gift Shop i think falls into this category and is pretty neat
some bangings i enjoyed specifically:
-- Gronk If You’re Horny
-- Do you know how hard it is to make an Irish Exit from a boat?
-- DO YOU THINK YOU’RE BETTER THAN FARMERS?
-- It seems like you’re pretty unhappy now. (I was able to intuit that from when you said “I’m super unhappy” because I’m an empath.)
PS i love nathan fielder's work (thanks for the heads up)! did you read his interview with kate berlant?
Visited my local florist in search of a little bag of plant sex and now I’m in jail
She’s a WHAT... WHAT... WHAT!
Underrated bop from Missy, even though the endless references to the Matrix on that album get tiresome.
The Rehearsal was genius and also deeply (and surprisingly) emotional. So thanks for the similar recommendation!
On the one hand, I find it pretty cool that all you need to make a music video nowadays is a literal phone and some artists can make really interesting and unique visuals with it but on the other, GOOD GOD do I miss the era of ridiculously high-concept and over-the-top hip-hop music videos! I am of the age where the Hype Williams aesthetic is absolutely seared into my brain as the pinnacle of cool.
Y'all. Y'ALL. y'alllllllll - go to bed. You are SO right on this!
Fall 2019 found me going through the end of a long-term relationship and this was one of the best gifts I gave myself (another was living alone for the first time at age 48. I am a FANTASTIC roommate and I like not sharing my space!). Days were HARD and sometimes just closing out the day was the right answer. Plus I was super practiced at it when March 2020 rolled around - and it helped immensely then too!
Be kind to yourself - rest up! <3
I just slipped done the most marvellous Missy Elliott clickhole!
