On the one hand, I find it pretty cool that all you need to make a music video nowadays is a literal phone and some artists can make really interesting and unique visuals with it but on the other, GOOD GOD do I miss the era of ridiculously high-concept and over-the-top hip-hop music videos! I am of the age where the Hype Williams aesthetic is absolutely seared into my brain as the pinnacle of cool.

Fall 2019 found me going through the end of a long-term relationship and this was one of the best gifts I gave myself (another was living alone for the first time at age 48. I am a FANTASTIC roommate and I like not sharing my space!). Days were HARD and sometimes just closing out the day was the right answer. Plus I was super practiced at it when March 2020 rolled around - and it helped immensely then too!
