Burps is a great name, but there’s an undertaker in Oliver Twist named Sowerberry, and I’m now obsessed with Sour Berry as a dog name. My dogs are happily named, so I’m sending this out into the universe.

Anxious flyer currently reading this on a flight. I do feel comforted. Will report back if I don't survive.

Some would say that an animal knows when they are being made fun of. Could the name Burps affect the dog’s self-esteem?

I feel like Burps is a self-fulfilling prophecy for having a gassy dog.

Good points about being a nervous flier. One of the problems is that news reports never say “today 45,000 commercial flights successfully completed in the US” (I looked it up). It helps me to remind myself of that, and sometimes to look at flight tracker apps and see the crazy amount of planes zooming around

Burps is a great name for a pooch! And Burpees for a cute little nickname!

As someone who goes on dates, I will push a pet reframing of mine: It's not "lost" time or money when a date doesn't work out. Unless it's very, very bad (which can happen!), I like to view first dates as an investment in my time and energy. Time gained, if you will. Meeting new people is nice, even if you don't hit it off. No lost nothing! Gained experiences! An opportunity to wear an outfit and be your dynamic self! Glass half full, etc.!

1) I remember seeing that movie advertised when I was a teenager and I was just so, so, so horrifically curious

2) I will never not recommend that people look at the list of popular Ukrainian names (I do a lot of cemetery stuff so often look them up) and pick one of those, for a child or a pet. The Ukrainian word for "burp" is apparently "відрижка", pronounced vidryzhka.

Burps is a good nickname for a dog with several nicknames. But personally, I wouldn't make it a dog's "primary" name.

Burps is a great dog nickname, but terrible dog name. I think all good pet names are really just a jumping off point. If you think you'd like to call a dog Burps, working backwards, I'd name it Albert. (Burps sounds a little like Burt/Bert, Albert)

First, dogs with human names, always delightful. Second, Albert gives you lots of nickname potential. Al, Albie, Alberto, Burt, Burps, Burpee, Burple the derple in their derpiest moments?
