I had not heard of the Ms Rachel controversy (because I’m a childless gay), but I think this backlash against her is further proof that we need to turn off the internet and return to being human. And since you and I both share a fiery hatred for AI, maybe we can work together to find a big pair of scissors and cut the cord.
If this forced you to handwrite this newsletter and distribute via mail, I would “like and subscribe”😉
Offered in earnest, because I too find myself getting ragey re AI. I started using DuckDuckGo as an alternate search engine because it allows you to adjust settings to opt out of AI content. It has the added bonus of prioritizing privacy and tracks how many attempts to track you have been blocked. I was shocked and horrified to realize that it regularly blocks over 1,000 tracking attempts per 1-2 weeks, but I have greater piece of mind in searching (though fewer Fiona Apple marriage stories, regrettably).
The line..."even when you choose to bring a period of your life to a close, it can feel complicated while still being the right decision for the time being" really hit me, in a good way! My partner and I recently made the difficult (but necessary) decision to leave NYC after 15 years. It's 100% the right call for us at this time in our lives but I am still sad! and also happy, and excited. Thanks for the reminder that it's okay to feel a lot of things at once.
This does give me some hope that the robots aren't about to become our overlords. It would be technically true if Fiona Apple were married to someone else- you'd both be married, just not to each other- but I don't think she is married. So, yes, AI sucks.

It's been a big week!
PSA that you can add "-ai" to your Google search term to skip that garbage
The fart metaphor is exquisite! 10 out of 10
Amy! Thank you!

That sounds really tough, but there is so much good life for you where you end up!

Hahahah yes we are still their grammatical superiors!
Thanks for adding to my store of "AI sucks and here's another example" stories.
Tip: If you don't want to have to keep seeing the AI text that Google spews every time you search, add -ai at the end of your search text.
Congrats on your marriage to Fiona Apple! Also, loved you on I Hate Bill Maher!
Thanks so much on both counts, the real one and the fake one!
I’m so glad you do comedy.
Hahah thank you me too!
Josh, thank you for this.
Thank YOU!
