I started ketamine depression therapy a couple of months ago and it is actually working out great, but it is such a bummer that I have to think about that guy every time I do it, due to the zeitgeist (and the fact that the provider I use is owned by a [former possibly current] friend of and possible supplier to him). And honestly? At a low clinical level, it knocks out the entire day for me - idk how he does it (allegedly) and then goes out in public.
"Joaquin Phoenix would, no joke, literally have to complete a successful bank robbery in character as The Joker for me to be as impressed."
Also thank you for paraphrasing this Birbiglia classic advice:
"When you’re writing a joke or developing any creative work, do it exactly the way you want at first. Then, if it’s not resonating with people, take a step towards them in your next revision and see if that brings them over to you. You shouldn’t start by trying to guess what people want, and it’s your responsibility as an artist to decide how many steps towards the audience you’re willing to take to make yourself understood."
Ketamine is the best thing I've ever done for my depression. And it has never once made me pee my pants. Having the audacity to sneeze any time in the 2+ decades after having kids does that. Obviously Elon Pelon impregnates so many anonymous women because he secretly envies their ability to destroy the elasticity and strength of their pelvic muscles.
I loved The Rehearsal, and I think season 2 is a clear step up from season 1.
Hilarious that the most quotable moment of the entire season wasn’t actually anything that was said during the show itself but rather the CNN interview after. Calling that flight “The Miracle Over The Mojave” and saying “I saved over 150 lives that day” were instantly iconic moments. You have to watch the interview after you finish the finale, it’s like the secret epilogue to the season
Agreed on Mike Birbiglia! We got to see this show when he came to Northampton in late February. Being able to be in a room with 300+ other people all laughing hysterically in unison WAS THE KETAMINE! Humor saves. I'll die on that hill a million times. Psst: the Wait! Wait! taping is sold out. Stupid lucky Portlandia East.

Dear Josh,
Great piece as always!
This is very funny and I agree with you:

Beautiful stuff!

I wish I lived in NYC so I could vote for Zohran.
I was thinking of you because in the unlikely event that the Knicks had prevailed, we would all be in heavy Bodega Boys mourning.
The Pretender!!! I loved that show and had forgotten about it until now!
It was a regular Gondelman-family weekend watch!
