Thanks for this Josh! The WGA strike is just one of the more visible manifestations of what corporations are trying to do (and often accomplishing) to all workers. And as we know not all writers (or even most... sooo far from being the most) are the flashy; wealthy, visible show creators that

....(take a point off my guild card for the accidental early send but...) ... (con’t) ...that we see in the Trades... the important thing is-- writers are actively forgoing incomes, taking big risks, getting fired because we believe so strongly in what we’re doing. All workers, all industries, deserve fair compensation for the work they do. NO worker should need to apply for food stamps while fully employed (I’m looking at you, a certain on-line company we all know and, yes, still use) and all of us deserve respect. ...whew. Sorry. This is a lot of sincerity from a cynical writer. Now I’ve got to go drink a whiskey in some seedy LA noir type bar and get this out of my system...

I captured the sign you posted from the WGA strike lines and several amusing others - one advantage of having writers on strike :-> and thought I'd share them in case it helps keep spirits up. Good luck with the studios - solidarity forever!

"Alexa will not replace us!"

"No pages without fair wages"

"Wrote ChatGPT This"

to con man - as someone who has not run conferences but used to work for a hotel conference center (before pandemic layoff lol but now i have a job i like way more) - even if things go kinda totally wrong in some way, a lot of ppl won't notice or care. we constantly had "disasters" relating to the food (generally, service was too slow or the food was bad, bc the hotel owner was extremely cheap and refused to hire enough catering staff or a better chef who followed any kind of hygiene) and while i would hear how horrible this was from a few ppl - most ppl were having a good time doing whatever conference things and did not notice or at least didn't complain much. and even if everyone did think it was horrible, eventually it was over! and hopefully yours will go better than any i worked on!

That is an *exceptionally* good picket sign! And "Just Disserts" is also extremely good. You're one of many great advocates for the WGA! Stand strong!

Stand strong, WGA. You’re worth more than the studios tell you (or currently pay you).
