I hope I’m not the only one my millennial who can definitively point to Hamilton writing as the reason I got radicalized in the 00s and 10s. He made gawker better than it would have been without him and he made me better too. I’m so glad he’s still writing and I can’t wait to read the book, thanks for linking to his substack!
Also, your advice to the letter writer is as always so sweet and funny.
Also also Fargo was one of the few things giving me hope. We can’t ask our entertainment and culture to ignore the people like Roy — I think that was kind of how we got 2016. But this way of showing how empty and weak they can be is the commentary we need.
This was my first season of watching Fargo and I found it Very Enjoyable. Also Jennifer Jason Leigh absolutely kidnapped and stole every single scene she was in. I want a whole show about the elder Mrs Lyons. What an icon.
Your advice response reminded me of a skit from last Saturday's (great) episode of SNL, in which Kenan Thompson's character remarked about someone's hairline being "in the past". I LOL'ed in the moment, I'm giggling about it now. Hairlines are weird. And I say this as someone whose hairline is definitively in the past.
Hahaha! I was there last June and hopefully I'll get to come back before too long! But it's tricky returning to the same city with less than a year between!
Ha, whenever we've seen Kristen Kish on Top Chef or otherwise, my wife and I both talk about how a) she's almost insanely great looking and b) she's WAY too cool for us, even if we both want to hang out with her.
You’re right that Reservoir Dogs should be getting more love. Not surprised. Same with Our Flag Means Death. A show (limited series?) we really enjoyed last year that I’ve heard virtually nothing about was The English. It’s on Prime.
Also, I just randomly started Scavengers Reign on Max yesterday. The adult drama cartoon isn’t normally my thing but it still has my attention 4 episodes in.
Funny! I had a similar response to the song Aaron Burr, Sir from Hamilton, in that it would always play in rental cars! (Now it always makes me think of the era of taking my daughters on college campus visits.) That said, I'm a huge fan of Future Islands, so thank you for sharing this video from them. And for coming to Seattle on tour. Just bought tickets to see you when you'll be here in May!
PS in another coincidence (?) or just confirmation bias, I'm rewatching the whole of Reservation Dogs because I loved the last season so and wanted to revisit the introductions of the characters. Just minutes ago I was watching S1, E3 when we meet Uncle Brownie. What an amazing show and cast. Agreed they should have gotten more recognition.

SO good! I feel similarly about Dave Foley's character. Danish Graves prequel when???
I’m going to try to make your SF show. We really enjoyed the clip you shared last week.
Amazing! And thanks!

Hahaha!
No St Louis appearances I see. Not that I blame you. John Oliver showed up in our sad little town though! Anyway, I'd buy tix if you came :)

Shoot! Hopefully I'll see you when you return.
Fingers crossed it won't be too long!
Rez Dogs should've won awards just for extreme levels they could make you laugh and cry in the SAME episode.

Brilliant Bugle! #Zaltsman4Prez
First I'm hearing of Flagrant, thanks for the rec!

Thanks for the letter. See you in Houston!
